Yoshi Okai is a first generation Japanese immigrant and world renowned chef. Now brandishing his skillset at Austin’s intimate Otoko, Yoshi touches each customers' five senses in a multi-course “omakase style” experience.
Yoshi built his culinary foundation at an early age from his grandparents and his signature presentation skills from his mother. In 1997, Yoshi packed up and left for the United States in search of the American Dream.
With only his love for music and stunning knife skills, Yoshi eventually found himself in Austin Texas. Where he fronted in a punk band, and spent his time infusing the local Mexican cuisine with a traditional Japanese flavor. Eventually building the opening to go back to his roots and infuse his personality into his culinary roots.
